Whole Wide World
02:43
|

When I was a young boy
My mama said to me
"There's only one girl in the world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti."
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world just to find her
Or maybe she's in the Bahamas
Where the Caribbean Sea is blue
Weeping in the tropical moonlit night
Because nobody's talking about you
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
To find out where they hide her
Or maybe my mama grew up engulfed
In a fantasy of love supreme
Riding on a coal train out of town
As a heroine in a dream
When the world started cracking my daddy split
My mama stayed in her dreams just to ground her
As reality crumbled she was lost within
The world she was forming around her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
Go the whole wide world
To find out where they hide her

Parts

Someday our paths will tangle
On a night without an end
A chance and not a gamble
As unannounced as it began
Our eyes begin the painting
Our voices bend the truth
No words to change their meaning
The paint begins to move
There is not a logic to it
Some things are just starts
And even though we crave completion
Sometimes life’s just parts
Your past in deep vermillion
My jokes in black and blue
A bruised amalgamation
Mixing rhythms into hues
The goal is not completion
But rather to have done
The painting drips and glistens
In the pale and rising sun
Our clothes are strewn around us
As emptied as our minds
Still lost in carnal pleasures
Leave nothing left behind
There is not a logic to it
Some things are just starts
And even though we crave completion
Sometimes life’s just parts

All These Thoughts
02:37
|
|||
all the plans you make
all the things you’ve done
all the ways you think
that you are
they don’t mean you will
they don’t hold you still
they don’t make you real
they just are
all your thoughts break down
all the cars break down
all your thoughts need parts
just like cars
and they take up time
and they make more time
and they waste your time
just like bars
all the lives you dream
all the songs you sing
all the hopes you still
keep alive
they won’t hold you tight
they won’t make things right
they won’t still be there
when you’ve died
so the plans you make
and the things you’ve done
all the ways you think
that you are
they are all just maps
they are all just words
but they still define
all you know

A Little Bit Shakey
02:25
|
|||
There’s too much bramble in the road
There’s a man getting young as his brain gets old
And when the space of his time corrodes
The man doesn’t notice at all
As the memories fade and blur
What’s worth of all the life they were
But if these stories that are shared endure
It’s worth it like an echoed call
When you call my name
Cold like the ice in your veins
I can feel the friction baby
Feel just a little shakey
There’s too much bramble in the road
There’s a man getting young as his brain gets old
And when the space of his time corrodes
The man doesn’t notice at all
As the memories fade and blur
What’s worth of all the life they were
But if these stories that are shared endure
It’s worth it like an echoed call
When you call my name
Cold like the ice in your veins
I can feel the friction baby
Feel just a little shakey

Words

Everyone’s a genius
When no one else is talking
Thoughts electrifying
Like fingers in a socket
And then your mouth starts moving
And everyone sound stupid
Cause all your thoughts are lonely as
The mouth that lets them loose is
I wonder when you’re only a thought away from dying
Is there an urge to share it or just take it to the grave
Cause I think that thoughts are only as good as they can be shared
It’s not what your thinking but who you’re thinking with
If your only speak in answers and quote regurgitations
Your actively ignoring the thoughts of who you’re facing
Or maybe thoughts aren’t verbal and to exist they need a casing
But even the most descriptive words are just approximations
I wonder how much faith you can really put in words
If they never can express the way they exist inside your head
Or maybe thoughts are only a way to process living
And words are just the byproducts that need to be expelled
Words are just like symbols the fun is in the speaking
Words hold on to meaning like a cup that always leaking
Understanding only exist within a context
Maybe conversations are just reflections of responses
But words can hit your heart like a bullet ripping through it
Words can hold your thoughts like a prisoner of war
Words can live forever in your head and never leave you
People come and go but words just stick around

Screams
03:48
|
|||
The first thing I remember was her scream
Like she was to full of life to keep it in
Overjoyed and bursting at the seams
Her thoughts and reasons mixed up with her dreams
I’ve never met a girl so lost and so direct
The second thing I noticed were her stories and her neck
Both were soft and quivering and running through my head
I’ve never been so lost and so direct
You will always be my girl
Even in different worlds
And I will always break your heart
But I’m sorry for that part
She said here life was like La Jetée
A handful of pictures with a thousand things to say
But no one understood her so they thought she was insane
They couldn’t see the beauty past her brain
They pumped her full of drugs till she couldn’t feel her thoughts
The world she used to love was a world she’d just forgot
She started to get shy and her stares replaced her screams
Her eyes now tinted windows to her dreams
You will always be my girl
Even in different worlds
And I will always break your heart
But I’m sorry for that part
Her parents call and blamed me for the way she used to cry
And the screams and the laughter and the sparks inside her eyes
They told me I’d possessed her and I’d strayed her from her path
And hopefully the drugs would bring her back
But to me it was their daughter who had put me in a spell
She took me to a precipice and smiled as she fell
To her it wasn’t falling it was flying to the ground
I never had the guts to watch you drown
You will always be my girl
Even in different worlds
And I will always break your heart
But I’m sorry for that part

Water Main Break
03:27
|
|||
She explains, reeducates and reasons but
He don’t hear her over his own voice
He tries to drown her in his confidence
But she says water it won’t hold me
No your water it won’t hold me
She picks apart his didactic stance
Her erudition leaves him stranded out at sea
As she swims to shore she can hear he scream
This water it can’t hold me
No this water it can’t hold me
I see it all coming down like a water snake
I see it all coming down like a water main break
I see it all coming down like a water snake
I see it all coming down like a water main break
When you’ve lived so long in a world you own
It’s hard to see the fear within a smile
Or the nuances of an empty stare
When there’s nothing to hold or hold you back
Oh there’s nothing to hold or hold him back
When the system fails and erodes all trust
The rotten pipes just buckle bend and bust
As the water pours and the rafters shake
The deluge leaves heaven in it’s wake
The deluge leaves heaven in it’s wake
I see it all coming down like a water snake
I see it all coming down like a water main break
I see it all coming down like a water snake
I see it all coming down like a water main break
